Dearest friends. Thank you for everything you are doing to make these terrifying times a little less so. I see your efforts and feel deeply grateful for them.
Along with community, what is fortifying me these days is art. For the past decade, I’ve had the honor of interviewing powerhouse women around the globe who have turned art into modes of resistance, of healing, of dissent, of devotion, and of love in order to survive the most frightening experiences of their own lives, including: authoritarianism, war, sexual violence, catastrophic illnesses and injuries, racism, and poverty. These women give me hope. I have a feeling they will give you hope, too.
And so:: from June 10 to November 10, I will be devoting the entirety of my energy to sharing their stories of hope with you. As soon as my new book ART ABOVE EVERYTHING drops in June, I’ll be traveling from North Carolina to Texas, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New York, DC, and beyond. I am up for anything: a multi-media keynote, a reading, an interview, a writing workshop, a class visit, a book club meeting, or a podcast, ideally in person but online works, too. DM me and we will make the magic happen.
Til then: saludos!
